Arbour Hospital is seeking a part-time, dynamic and talented Medical Records Coder. Under the direction of the Director of Medical Records, the coder ensures that records are coded in an accurate and timely manner.
Main Responsibilities:
Ensures that records are coded within 3 days of discharge, excluding weekends and holidays.
Reviews chart thoroughly to ascertain all diagnoses/procedures.
Contacts responsible physician in a professional, tactful manner, if diagnosis is not available in chart.
Refers chart to supervisor, if there is a question regarding the diagnoses/codes.
Utilizes hospital computerized coding/abstracting equipment and 3M.
Codes all diagnoses/procedures in accordance to ICD-10, and Coding Guidelines.
Meets quality standards of having 95% of principal diagnoses and procedures appropriately and/or correctly coded.
This is a part-time, 24 hours, benefit eligible position.
