The Ridge Behavioral Health System is seeking a dynamic and talented Assessment Supervisor. Located in Lexington, KY, the heart of the Bluegrass, The Ridge Behavioral Health System offers a healing environment that is reassuring to a patientsâ€™ sense of security and confidentiality. Dedicated to excellence, The Ridge Behavioral Health System is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, as a licensed, 110-bed hospital, providing psychiatric (mental health) and chemical dependency (drug & alcohol rehabilitation) services to children, adolescents and adults. Inpatient care is provided on a 24-hour basis, seven days a week. Outpatient and partial hospitalization services are provided on a six-day per week basis, days and evenings. The Assessment and Referral Shift Coordination oversees the assessment, referral and admission activities during the assigned shift.Â The Coordinator assigns responsibilities to assure prompt response to patient needs reviews and maintains all documents and departmental logs and assigns physicians to admitted patients.Â The Coordinator performs Assessment and Referral Counselor responsibilities and provides telephonic and in person risk assessment and crisis intervention, initial contact with referral sources and potential patients, coordinates the referral and intake process, determines appropriate level of care and maintains communication with referral sources, families, patients and unit staff.Â The Coordinator will supervise Assessment staff orientation and report staffing needs to the Assessment and Referral Director.
Position Specific Competencies:
Provides orientation to new employees, including phone skills, Intake Call systems, Business Office procedures, admission criteria and office procedures.
Adds and cuts staff based on business demand and call volume.Â
Communicates performance expectations to staff.
Communicates with Director regarding employee problems.
Reinforces positive work performance.
Is available to staff for questions regarding departmental procedures and policies.
Takes call one week per month.
Responds to office calls and needs with 15 minutes of request.
Ensures staff follow-up with â€œno showâ€� appointments.
Maintain filing of office documents; Patients assessment of those not admitted to our facility.
Educates staff on Intake Call procedures and importance of process and timeliness, thoroughness of information reported.
Analyzes Intake Call data for demographic patterns, clinical trends and other key management considerations; relays pertinent findings to director.
Identifies training needs of department staff.
Recommends changes or improvements of departmental operations to Director.Â Â
Collects and analyzes documentation data creating a report for Quality Council.
Follows-up on tasks or assignments requiring further attention.
Conducts screening and/or assessments in keeping with clinical knowledge, skill level, and department policies.
Facilitates clinically appropriate admissions to hospital services, congruent with needs and resources of caller.
Ensures Intake Call data is maintained and entered daily.
Refers callers to appropriate resources that optimally meet callerâ€™s needs.Â Â
Demonstrates sufficient understanding of services available in the community.
Interacts professionally and effectively with physicians and other clinical staff.
Works professionally and effectively with Business Office staff.
Interacts cooperatively with professional liaisons, supporting the facilityâ€™s ongoing efforts.
Interacts well with referral sources; facilitates prompt communications in the best interest of the patient and the facilityâ€™s operations.
Is receptive to direction & feedback from the Director.
Provides access to facility services based on admission criteria.
Communicates assessment recommendations to patients and families.
Demonstrates knowledge of programs &/or unit services, policies, and procedures.
Demonstrates effective time management skills; organizes work so that critical assignments may be completed promptly, accurately, and thoroughly.
Follows proper NCI de-escalation techniques when handling crisis situations.
Provides appropriate crisis intervention as necessary by anticipating and responding quickly to escalating behaviors, utilizing de-escalation techniques to diffuse the situation, correctly prioritizing safety concerns.
Uses appropriate counseling skills by de-escalating aggression, using active listening skills, using appropriate tone and volume of voice, providing a high frequency and variety of positive reinforcements, maintaining appropriate boundaries, and promoting a positive peer culture.
Demonstrates proper procedures for therapeutic holds and seclusions.
Patient belongings are properly inventoried and logged.
Contraband is properly removed and disposed of according to policy.
