ResponsibilitiesWorking as part of a team, the Decision Support Analyst will be responsible for performing complex financial analysis that supports critical strategic decision-making by mid- and top-level administration. Under the direction of the Director of Decision Support, you will be responsible for designing and executing analysis projects, from establishing client needs, determining project assumptions, finding and extracting data from various sources, to translating into understandable financial statements. You are also responsible for auditing data for reasonableness, investigating variances, and working with technical team to make appropriate corrections. Analyst must interface with key management officers and physician leaders to provide consulting and analysis support. All analysis and reporting must comply with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), and other regulatory and institutional requirements.
Bachelors’ degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or Mathematics required. MBA or MPH preferred.
3-5 years increasingly responsible experience in hospital or medical group financial analysis.
Expertise with Excel required and Access, preferred.
Familiarity with hospital decision support systems, EPSi, preferred.
Ability to interact professionally with various levels of hospital staff, managers, and physicians.
Demonstrated effectiveness working as part of a team.
Ability to translate clinical user needs into financial reporting structures and conversely explain financial results to non-financial / technical customers.
Understanding of healthcare coding schemes: ICD-9, ICD-10, UB-04, CPT4, etc.
Understanding of health plan and government reimbursement mechanisms to hospitals and physicians.
Ability to think creatively, anticipate and respond in a rapidly changing industry.
