| JOB TITLE: Unit Deck Clerk/ Support Tech/ Nursing Assistant LOCATION: Geisinger Bloomsburg Hospital DEPARTMENT: Operating Rooms WORK SCHEDULE: Days WORK TYPE: Full Time JOB SUMMARY: Responsible and accountable for performing a wide range of clerical duties. The performance of these tasks is essential to enhance the care team's ability to provide quality care. Serves as a critical link in complex patient flow process and establishes the intercommunication system. Actively participates as a team member in working towards goals of the unit and organization. Performs a variety of support-type duties in the Operating Room, SPU, and PACU. Assists clinical staff with patient care and preparation for surgical procedures. Assists with the care, preparation and stocking of supplies within the Surgical Suite. Performs duties to support the goals and objectives of Geisinger Health System in its efforts to provide quality patient care and patient satisfaction. Provides adherence to requirements mandated by Joint Commission, DOH, HIPAA, Performance Improvement, Infection Control and Safety Management. Responsible for ensuring the very best patient/family experience by optimizing all customer interaction. Foster a positive work environment through mutual support and cooperation and adheres to GHS and unit specific Service Standards. Works under the supervision of the Team Coordinator, and Registered Nurse. Reports directly to the Operations Manager. COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS: Demonstrates basic math skills. Demonstrates good communication and organizational skills. Demonstrates the ability to prioritize and manage a variety of tasks and or projects in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrates the ability to work independently or with limited supervision. Demonstrates basic office skills including, but not limited to: phones, email, copying, scanning, faxing, computer skills and working knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Word, Excel. Demonstrates ability to work in medical/hospital software programs. Demonstrates knowledge of medical terminology. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: High School diploma or equivalent required. Knowledge of medical terminology and computers preferred. BLS certification required. WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Work is typically performed in a clinical environment.
