The LVN functions as an assistant, circulator and scrub. The LVN is the nurse who, using the nursing process, designs, coordinates and delivers care to meet the needs of the patient undergoing the operative procedure. The LVN works in collaboration with and at the direction of the surgeon. The LVN assesses plans, intervenes, and evaluates the outcome of the surgical intervention. The LVN addresses physiological, socio-cultural and spiritual responses of the individual undergoing a surgical procedure. Is responsible for safe, effective, and quality patient-family centered care in the operating room and other areas of perioperative services for all patient populations and supports the mission, vision and values of Trinity Mother Frances Hospital and Trinity Clinic. The LVN also provides professional nursing care under the supervision of the surgeon for patients in clinical office setting.
4-5 years operating room experience and scrub first assist experience
Capable of assisting surgeon in OR procedures (clamp, cut ties)
1-2 years physician clinic nursing experience
Basic computer skills
Basic medical equipment and instrumentation
Good organizational, communication and nursing skills
