Job Title: Underwriter – Geisinger Health Plan Location: Danville, PA Work Type: Full Time
JOB SUMMARY: Calculates premium rate proposals and develops product portfolios for primarily for renewal business of 51 or more eligible employees. Contributes to the achievement of the financial and marketing objectives established by the Health Plan's strategic goals through the thorough assessment of group risk, the expected cost to deliver services, the expected marketability and competitiveness of health care services that will result in profitable enrollment. Uses actuarial data in standard application of the Health Plan's various rating methodologies and formulas and identifies potential areas for application of underwriting judgment. Knowledge of compliance on applicable state and federal laws and regulations that affect rating and underwriting practices is essential. Provides support to Management relative to financial forecasting, profitability and expense analysis, and assigned special projects.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree in Business, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance or other relevant field and minimum two years related professional work experience required. or Associate degree in Business, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance or other relevant field and minimum four years related professional work experience required. or Minimum eight years related professional work experience required.
Designations from programs/courses offered by Academy for Healthcare Management, S.M. Snow & Associates, Milliman USA or other recognized entity may substitute for part of work experience.
