POSITION SUMMARY: Is responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of hospital education/clinical competency and developing a comprehensive plan for meeting the educational needs within the hospital. Directs & delivers nursing and clinical orientation. Collaborates with managers to direct & deliver unit specific orientation. Assesses and tracks competency & initiates individualized plans to meet identified learning needs for all clinical units. Serves as a change agent; identifies problems, facilitates dialogue through the development of rapport with staff, physicians & others in leadership, and initiates actions leading to the improvement of patient care. Identifies individual and aggregate learning needs within each department. Annual educational/competency plans are developed, initiated & evaluated to determine their effectiveness. Coordinator of AHA life support training center. Coordinates student affiliation agreements. Manages .edu system.
Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Minimum Education / Licensure / Certifications Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing; Master's degree preferred; RN license required. IV, BLS, ACLS & PALS instructor certification desirable.
Minimum Experience A minimum of five years professional nurse experience required; A minimum of two years of critical care experience; 3-5 years prior teaching experience preferred.
