Fairview is hiring for a Human Resources Representative to join the Employee Relations team. The position works mainly M-F business hours and will be located at our Fairview corporate office in Saint Paul, MN. Some travel in and around the Twin Cities and the regions to hospitals, clinics and other offices is as needed by the business group you serve, as well as opportunities to work remotely.
The Human Resources Representative is primarily responsible for providing virtual, and as needed, in person, proactive and reactive on-going, objective, consultation to Fairview leadership on employee relations related matters. This also includes interpretation of policies, processes, and support around adherence to bargaining unit contracts and required organizational behaviors. This position is responsible for being the escalation point for all employee and/or leader inquiries involving performance management, problem-resolution, and policy and union contract interpretation. The Human Resources Representative possesses strong customer service skills and general knowledge of all organizational Human Resources partners/teams, human resources systems as well as Fairview policy and bargaining unit contracts. Areas of focus: Fairview policy, contracts and established processes, cause and effect, HR systems and self-service opportunities, exemplary customer experiences, State and Federal legal requirements, leadership consultation, decision-making and risk assessment of guidance provided.
Serves as first call for help for Fairview leadership teams on HR related topics and provides direct assistance on individual performance/employee relations.
Guides and educates leaders on performance management (coach/counsel, corrective action, and performance and behavior expectations)
Union contract, policy and/or physician employment agreement interpretation
Policy development and review of departmental/system guidelines
Coordination and distribution of severance information
Consultation on new programs or changes to established programs
Assists leaders with employee job changes and other events as needed; educating and inspiring self-service submission of changes.
Guides and educates system leadership on the requirements to complete performance reviews, submission of employee changes, E-time timekeeping review and approvals, required learning, life support and employee annual screening/flu shot compliance as well as other minimum requirements for positions.
Manages deviations from established processes (hiring, corrective action, salary changes, job attribute changes)
Responds to unemployment claims and coordinates and participates in unemployment hearings
Serves as first-step escalation point for employee and/or leadership concerns and issues outside of pay or benefits.
Acts as an objective resource to employees challenging process, department guidelines and policies and employment practices
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field
3 years of progressive Human Resources experience
5 years of progressive Human Resources experience
Ability to consult, advise and assess risk in collaboration with department leadership.
High degree of flexibility, adaptability and resiliency skills.
Focus on providing high standard of customer service for large range of professions and individuals.
Professional communication skills including persuasion and conflict management.
Knowledge of Federal, State and local laws (e.g. FMLA, ADA, FLSA, NRLB, Sick and Safe Time, etc.)
Experience in a complex organization with multiple employee groups
Experience in a unionized environment
Experience with physician support including policy and process support and physician contracts.
Good writing & proof-reading and editing for content skills.
