Delivers advanced professional and technical nursing care to patients admitted to the Pediatric Unit, demonstrating patient family centered care. Performs safe and effective nursing techniques for the comfort and well being of the patient. Nursing care delivered complies with the objectives, policies, mission statement, and vision of the hospital while utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Monitors, documents, and communicates patient condition as appropriate. Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstance. Educates patient and or primary care giver on disease process and plan of care. Prepares equipment and assists physician during treatment and examination of patients. The nurse administers medication and/or treatment as ordered by the physician to support the coordination of patient returning to optimal health. Collaborates with multidisciplinary team members to provide age/developmentally appropriate care in accordance with unit-specific standards. May be needed to work beyond the regular tour of duty or in another patient care unit as assigned by department head or nursing supervisor.
Current Florida RN license.
Holds a current BLS card from the American Heart Association
Holds a current PALS card within 3 months if new to area.
Holds a current Non-Crisis Prevention Intervention card within 6 months if new to area.
Ability to effectively communicate in writing and orally with all levels of the organization
Ability to effectively communicate (verbally and in writing) in English.
Ability to write legibly (clinical areas).
Additional languages desirable.
