Our 39-bed Surgical Specialties Unit serves a high acuity, diverse population of both surgical and medical patients, including Thoracic, Cardiovascular, Peripheral Vascular, GI, and Bariatric. Station 33 is an energetic, fast-paced, complex environment offering advanced learning opportunities for the right candidate while partnering with an experienced multidisciplinary team.

This position is responsible for assisting the Manager/Director with department operations. This includes supervision of personnel and projects as delegated, including but not limited to human resources management, nursing practice, quality and safety, regulatory compliance, finance and other operational accountabilities.

The PCS aids in promoting the practice of professional nursing as well as the development and utilization of resources. The PCS works cooperatively with the station 33 Nurse Manager, administration, physicians, staff and customers of the M Health Fairview system to provide services and consistently meet and exceed expectations of the people we serve. The PCS participates in aspects of budgeting, performance management and human resources matters, including recruitment and the administration of disciplinary measures. The PCS assists in implementing and supporting safety protocols and regulations ensuring compliance with federal, state and local requirements and meets all Joint Commission requirements. The PCS will model behaviors consistent with M Health Fairviews mission, vision and philosophy and effectively maintain the hospitals Standards of Care and Practice.

• Assists in managing the day-to-day and shift-to-shift operations
• Supervision of personnel in the department and projects as delegated.
• Hiring, discipline and performance evaluations
• Review of daily surgical schedule
• Preference card assessment, review, and adjustment in conjunction with scheduling and team leads
• Acts as a role model
• Collaborates with Nursing and Provider leadership to implement and evaluate standards of practice.
• Supports our patient experience initiatives
• Assist with charge nurse development
• Demonstrates skills/abilities in provision of patient care and directs patient care
• Managing new hire onboarding
• Compass review and follow up with unit staff and other departments
• Collects and analyzes quality data and utilizes process improvement methodology to insure delivery of safe and quality patient care.
• Supports and leads unit initiatives related to patient experience, clinical practice, and employee engagement
• Attends Unit Practice Councils
• Involvement with e-time (payroll)

Required:

• Bachelors Degree in Nursing. If Bachelors is not in nursing, then must have a Masters degree in nursing
• Three years nursing experience, at least one of which is in a formal or informal ( charge, lead, preceptor) leadership role.
• Minnesota RN license
• BLS certification

• Master's degree
