This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. Learn more . The Inpatient Mental Health Unit is looking for an enthusiastic RN to join their team! In this position you will be accountable for the provision of direct patient care and for delivering quality nursing care by applying all aspects of the nursing process in the management of acute and chronic mental health illnesses to a culturally diverse Veteran population with complex needs Duties and responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to the following: Communicate and interact appropriately and courteously with all internal and external customers. Demonstrate working practices that include adherence to Infection Control standards and the safe use and operation of equipment. Provide direct patient care through individual, group, and family therapies as well as crisis intervention. Determine the need for restraint or seclusion treatment modalities if patient is in danger to self or others. When the patient's immediate behavior is controlled, the nurse will notify the physician and the treatment plan will be reviewed and modified as appropriate. Perform psychosocial assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of health care needs and care of specific patients and their significant others/families. Participate or conduct patient community groups and provide patient education as needed. Employee identifies and reports all unsafe conditions to appropriate personnel to ensure a safe environment for all patients, medical center personnel, and visitors. Employee also practices safe working habits to avoid damage to government equipment, building structures and motor vehicles. This position has been approved for the following recruitment incentives: Education Debt Repayment Plan: This position is eligible for Education Debt Repayment Plan (EDRP) based upon the availability of funds. Award amounts are determined after review of complete EDRP application and supporting documentation. Final approval by the Under Secretary for Health or designated official verifies EDRP. Work Schedule: Night Tour: 7:30 pm to 8:00 am, with rotating weekends and holidays. Financial Disclosure Report: Not required Benefits: Position is eligible for Shift Differential; 10% on Weekdays 6pm-6am, 25% on weekends 6am-6pm, 35% on weekends 6pm-6am. The VA benefits package include a contribution to the employees selected Health Benefit Plan, Dental, Vision, Retirement and Thrift Savings Plan matching up to 5%.
