Purpose Statement / Position Summary This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of Saddleback Medical Center. The employee shall support Saddleback Medical Center’s strategic plan and participate in and advocate performance improvement/patient safety activities. The Medical Staff Coordinator will oversee all aspects of the medical staff’s Continuing Medical Education program, including coordination of grand rounds presentations and regularly scheduled series. The Coordinator will also facilitate publication of the quarterly physician newsletter, working closely with the physician Editor-in-Chief, and will support certain medical staff committee meetings. Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job - Facilitate the Continuing Medical Education program for the medical staff
- Coordinate publication of the quarterly medical staff newsletter
- Support and facilitate medical staff committee and/or department meetings
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including excellent knowledge of English grammar, punctuation, and spelling.

Essential Job Outcomes - Coordination and support of the Continuing Medical Education (CME) program, including coordination of Grand Rounds presentations and supporting Regularly Scheduled Series as needed; ensuring compliance with CME accreditation standards; serving as the primary representative in accreditation surveys, including coordination with surveyors and committee members, and preparation of survey documents; supporting the CME Committee meetings; tracking practitioner attendance at all CME functions; producing and distributing annual and ad hoc CME reports for providers.
- Coordination of the physician newsletter, including working in collaboration with the physician Editor in Chief, soliciting and collecting content submissions; proofreading for grammatical, punctuation, spelling, or other errors; working with the publisher company to produce the final product; and distribution
- Coordination and facilitation of department and committee meetings as assigned, including meeting notices, agenda coordination and preparation, attendance at meetings, taking and transcribing minutes, attending to follow-up actions, and other tasks as may be required.
- General department/office support, which might include answering phones, filing, auditing credentials records, participation in special events and surveys as needed, running reports, maintaining the database, providing support in the absence of other members of the department (e.g. vacation coverage).
