The Fargo VA Health Care System is recruiting for two (2) full-time License Practical Nurses for the Primary Care Nursing Service Line to serve our Veterans in the COVID test Clinic. The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) will be required to perform nursing care for adult and geriatric patients with a variety of physical, mental, behavioral or psychological needs by applying practical nursing knowledge and skills. This specific LPN role will be accountable to complete COVID testing for Veterans within the COVID Test Clinic and assist with completing tasks as delegated within the Emergency Department. The LPN will be expected to work within their scope of practice and be flexible with assigned duties The LPN will possess the required clinical knowledge necessary for the following duties: Use judgment in selecting the appropriate order and sequence of procedures and treatments Use of correct PPE while completing patient Covid testing Verification of physician orders and implementation Specimen retrieval and proper labeling Documentation in electronic medical record Provide patient education Exercise excellent interpersonal and organizational skills Ability to serve as a responsible member of the nursing team Incorporate acceptable established customer service standards into practice Prepare, administer and document prescribed medication and/or prescribed treatment regimens as permitted by approved policies and procedures of the facility Assit with 1:1 constant observation duties as directed Recognize urgent or emergent patient care situations, seek assistance of the RN and/or provider, and initiate appropriate emergency interventions as directed Fosters an environment of respect for individual patient and family rights to privacy and dignity in all aspects of care delivery. Effectively incorporates knowledge and understanding of established customer service standards in all interactions with patients, family members, and/or other internal/external customers Actively seeks out educational opportunities to enhance nursing knowledge and skills, sharing new knowledge gained with other staff to improve and advance nursing practice Understand practices to eliminate, minimize or mitigate adverse environmental impacts Familiarizes self with how work activities impact VA's goal to implement sound stewardship practices that are protective of air, water, land and other natural and cultural resources. Shall be a good steward of the environment by preventing pollution, minimizing waste, and continually improving environmental programs. (GEMS) Maintain BLS certification Other duties as assigned Physical Requirements: Must be able to perform occasional heavy lifting and carrying of 45 lbs. and over. Straight pulling is required for intermittent hours as well as pushing and reaching above shoulder. Must be able to stand and walk for an extended period of time, use of both hands and legs is required. Ability to kneel and repeatedly bend as well as ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously. Near vision correctable at 13" to 16" to Jaeger 1 to 4; far vision correctable in one eye to 20/20 amd tp 20/40 in the other as well as color vision; specific hearing requirements. Duty Station: Fargo VA Main Campus Work Schedule: Monday-Friday rotating shifts of 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Financial Disclosure Report: Not required
