The Orlando VA Medical Center is seeking a full-time Staff Hematopathologist for the Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Service. Applicant's note: This announcement is being used to fill various positions at facilities throughout the VISN 8: VA Sunshine Network. You must choose which facilities you want to be considered for. You may select one or more facility; but you must select at least one when you apply. You will be considered for the facilities that you select when you apply. Facilities may have positions are various duty locations covered by its facility. Note that some facilities may not have current vacancies at the time of this announcement. However, applicants may be considered for future and any additional vacancies that become available in the next 90 days. Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP): Eligible- *See "Additional Information" section below for more details. The major duties and responsibilities includes, but not limited to: Interpretive skills in liquid and solid hematopathology including peripheral blood, bone marrow, lymph node and other hematopathology specimens. Sign out of flow cytometry reports. Interpretation of immunohistochemical and fluorescent in situ hybridization. Participation in the incipient Molecular Diagnostics branch. Oversee the Hematology, Flow Cytometry & Coagulation sections of the laboratory.Interact with hematology supervisor, technologists and Hematology-Oncology staff. Supervise the validation of new instruments or techniques as needed. Rotate on the surgical pathology service on a need basis to cover frozen sections. Sign out surgical pathology reports.
