The Rush Center for Weight Loss and Bariatric Surgery at Rush University Medical Center is seeking a full-time academic clinical faculty member. This position offers teaching and clinical opportunities in a predominantly outpatient setting working on a multidisciplinary and collaborative team. Primary responsibilities include conducting intakes, follow-up behavioral health sessions, providing assessments with treatment plans and/or clearance for bariatric surgery and facilitating therapy groups (CBT, DBT, etc). Eligible candidates should be board certified or eligible. The ideal candidate will possess a strong clinical background and have experience working with weight loss patients. The candidate will join the faculty of our interdisciplinary academic medical center, and supervise and teach residents, medical students and other trainees. Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with experience. Opportunities for participation in research and other academic or administrative functions may be available depending on candidates' background and experience.
Unlike traditional bariatric surgery or weight loss programs, Rush Centers for Weight Loss and Bariatric Surgery rely on a multidisciplinary approach - including nutritionists, behavioral therapists, weight management experts and metabolic and bariatric surgeons - to create customized plans for patients that help them reach their weight loss goals and improve their health and quality of life. Rush Centers for Weight Loss and Bariatric Surgery can be found throughout the Chicago area including locations at Rush University Medical Center, Rush Oak Park Hospital and Rush Copley Medical Center as well as neighborhood locations in Gold Coast, South Loop, Oak Brook and Oak Lawn. Many members of the weight loss team are available via virtual/video visits, allowing for unprecedented collaboration and even greater access to care.
