Opportunity exists for full-time Nephrology physician at the Sacramento VA Medical Center, Mather, CA. The position will encompass the breadth of clinical care, including inpatient consultation, outpatient clinic and outpatient dialysis rounding. The Nephrologist is charged with delivering the best possible renal care to our Veteran patients. This care must be delivered in accordance with hospital policy and meet community standards and pertains to outpatients as well as inpatients. Proficiency in temporary dialysis catheters is encouraged, but not required. Proficiency in renal biopsies is not required. Research interest is encouraged, but not required. Dedicated time may be set aside for research for qualified applicants. Teaching is an integral part of the work of a VA staff Nephrologist. Academic appointment with our affiliate, UC Davis, possible. This pertains to Nephrology Fellows, Residents, medical and nursing students, nursing and other ancillary staff. The staff Nephrologist exercises corporate citizenship by serving as leader and/or active member on Medical Center committees as requested. On-call one week out of four (24/7).
Candidate must be: 1) US Citizen or PRA, 2) Board Eligible/Certified in Internal Medicine and Nephrology, 3) Have a full, unrestricted medical license in any State, and 4) confirm vaccination for seasonal influenza and Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) which are both requirements for all Health Care Personnel (HCP) employed by Department of Veterans Affairs. Preferred experience: Highly qualified candidates will be Board Certified in Nephrology and have VA experience.
