Mercy Care has an exciting full time or part time employment opportunity for a Board Certified or Board Eligible Psychiatry physician to join an exceptional team providing care for the underserved population in Atlanta, Georgia.
The Psychiatry physician provides diagnosis, psychiatric treatment and helps prevent psychiatric disorders and injuries of patients. The selected candidate will also provide administrative oversight as needed and works in an integrated care setting collaboratively with primary care.
The selected provider will participate in health fairs or community events on weekends as requested three to four times a year. The option to work with the Street Medicine team is available, if desired.
Requirements for this opportunity include graduation from an ACGME certified Psychiatry residency program and Board Certification or Board Eligibility. Licensure to practice medicine within the state of Georgia is required, as well as at least one year of serving disadvantaged or special needs populations. The selected candidate must have experience working with people with both mental illness and substance abuse/dependence, as well as working in a multi-disciplinary setting. The ability and legal right to drive in Georgia, including an active, current Georgia Drivers License, may be required.
The selected candidate must be able to build strong, cohesive, outcomes-focused working relationships with special needs populations and the behavioral health teams serving this population. Applicants must also be able to initiate and maintain cooperative working relationship with patients and colleagues and be able to make decisions both independently and with an interdisciplinary health, educational and social services team. The selected candidate must possess organizational and leadership skills, ability to work with psychiatric nurse and mid-level providers, and willingness to provide consultation to primary care providers working in integrated care setting. Applicants must be able to maintain appropriate professional and personal boundaries and a positive, healthy role model for patients and colleagues. Racial and cultural sensitivity is essential.
The selected candidate will provide patient care and/or support activities appropriate to ages served, which may include both children and adults. Call coverage for this opportunity is shared call.
