Assistant Professor-General Palliative Care & Hospice Medical Director
Preferred Qualifications: In addition, it is preferred that applicants be hospice and palliative medicine certified or eligible in a medical specialty related to Palliative Care. Applicants should have a valid professional license of documentation that application for license is in process.
This position in Family Medicine is for a full-time faculty Physician to provide the general duties of Palliative Care Medicine. In addition, the Physician will be willing to serve as Medical Director of the Hospice Service affiliated with University Medical Center (UMC Hospice Care, an Amedisys Partner) through a separate agreement between TTUHSC and UMC Hospice Care. This faculty position will also participate in medical student, resident, and fellow education.
Candidates should have strong clinical and educational skills, a demonstrated commitment to all missions of the division, and proven excellence in mentoring, leadership, and administrative abilities.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to build on an enormously strong foundation of excellence, including innovative research, renowned clinical services, and prominent educational programs including a fully accredited HPM fellowship program.
General duties for the position:
- Provide educational and medical services on a full-time basis except for official holidays, scheduled vacations, CME leave, and other leave permitted by TTUHSC
- Maintain Professional Staff membership and privileges in Family Medicine and Palliative Care at UMC
- Attend rounds with the Palliative Care team
- Participate as a member of the Physician team for Palliative Care call and accept consultations within the palliative care unit and other patient care areas as appropriate.
