Hartford HealthCare (HHC) seeks a transformational, innovative, and collaborative leader with a strong clinical and academic foundation to serve as its next Co-Physician in Chief (Co-PIC), Heart & Vascular Institute (HVI). With a long tradition of excellence in cardiovascular care, HHC has integrated heart and vascular services across the System to achieve high quality, cutting-edge, patient-centered and coordinated care.
With $6 billion in net revenue, HHC is comprised of approximately 37,000 employees, with more than 500 locations serving 185 towns and cities — includes two tertiary-level teaching hospitals, an acute-care community teaching hospital, an acute-care hospital and trauma center, three community hospitals and an expansive multispecialty physician group. The HVI is comprised of more than 300 physicians and advanced practice providers delivering care at HHC's seven hospitals and 55 other clinical settings across the state of Connecticut and Southwestern Rhode Island.
The Co-PIC will work in close partnership with the Co-PIC (Cardiac Surgery) and Senior Vice President, HVI, setting strategy, alignment of cardiovascular services, and be responsible for physician recruitment, development, integration, and operations of the HVI across HHC. The Co-PIC will oversee a heart and vascular service operation that provides seamless, best practice, patient care delivery that supports the mission of HHC. This is an incredible opportunity to provide leadership to one of the most comprehensive heart and vascular institutes in New England and the Northeast.
The successful candidate will be an outstanding leader with demonstrated ability to effectively inspire, manage, mentor, and develop a culturally diverse faculty and staff. The Co-PIC will serve as a leader in advancing clinical operations, transforming care delivery in cardiology, and partnering with cardiac surgery in the advancement of integrated care on behalf of patients across the System and throughout the region. Candidates must hold the degree of MD or DO, be Board Certified in Cardiology and possess qualifications for appointment at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine.
